Philippines has always been known as the "Pearl of the Orient Sea". This title was given by a Spanish Jesuit missionary Fr. Juan J. Delgado in 1751 during the Spanish Era. He is one of the missionaries who discovered the Philippines.

Up to this day, the Philippines remains and still lives up to its name since the largest pearl in the world was seen in the vast seas of the Philippines. It was called as the "Pearl of Lao Tzu ' or the "Pearl of Allah".

But this title can be snatched some time soon, since another Filipino fisherman claimed he owns another pearl which he has found in Palawan, weighing almost 75 pounds with a value of 76,000,000 euro or almost 4 billion pesos.

According to Wereblog, it was discovered by the Fisherman 10 years ago. Though the fisherman had no idea of how much the pearl costs, he kept it with beliefs that it is something what will bring him luck and he made it into his some sort of "lucky charm".

But due to unfortunate situations, the fisherman decided to leave the pearl with his aunt, Aileen Cynthia Amurao, who works as a tourism officer. The fisherman's home was caught up in a fire, thus he was left with no other choice.  When Amurao, had the pearl in her hands, she couldn't hide her amazement so she immediately brought it to the experts to have it examined and checked.

Amurao shared the fisherman's experience of how he was able to have such amazing pearl in his hands. She shared how astonished she was, the first time she saw the pearl. That is why she asked gemologist to examine it, since she was curios as to the pearl owned by his fisherman nephew was real or not.

The pearl owned by the fisherman was 26 inches long, with a width of 12 inches and weighed almost 34kg and has a value of almost $100 million. The recorded largest pearl in the world only weighed 6.4 kg and only has a value of almost $35 million.

The pearl is now displayed at Puerto Princesa City Hall and is one of the main tourist attraction in the City.

Truly, the Philippines is rich in different natural resources, and if the pearl will be proven to be true, it'll be recognized as the largest pearl in the world.
