Luckily, cheaper alternatives are available in the market like tilapia, Filipino favorite. But this fish has gained skewed views that bacon is healthier than it.

According to the American Dietetic Association, tilapia has high levels of polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acids compared to having omega 3 content. Farm-raised tilapia has always been a popular supplier for fish since it is inexpensive and widely available.

Since it is a farm-raised fish it is usually treated with antibiotics and pesticide. The crowded situation of fish farms makes the fishes more susceptible to diseases thus the owners would give antibiotics to keep diseases away. Also, the tilapia is being treated with a pesticide to combat sea lice.

However, tilapia has a correlation to inflammation. According to recent studies, eating tilapia may worsen inflammation leading to heart diseases, arthritis, asthma, and a lot more diseases.

Most people opting for fish as their way of acquiring omega-3 fatty acids and lessen the risk of having heart-related diseases may want to get their hands off tilapia.

A scientist from Wake Forest University has found out that tilapia imposes higher inflammatory risks far greater than hamburger patties or pork bacon. Therefore, tilapia isn't the fish they may want to chew on.

Check into the food you eat, not because it seems healthy it is already healthy.
