OFWs tend to be looked as those who are immediately successful upon returning to their home or country but it is actually the opposite. They have been conquering loneliness, hunger and everyday pain. They are working triple than usual just to provide for their families in the Philippines.

Emmanuel Rabulan, an OFW in Riyadh has experienced a lot of hardships in his life but never gave up. With the dream to elevate the life of his family, he ventured working abroad and far from his wife & four children. He worked as a janitor at the Riyadh Military Hospital Bldg. 60 since December 28, 2009.

His work begins at 6 am and finishes at 2 pm. After his duty, he would cook roasted nut and sells it at Batha showcase every evening starting 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm on weekdays. Selling it at five riyals per three packs.

With a compensation of 700 Riyals per month equivalent to 8,000 Pesos, his salary isn't enough to suffice the needs of his family. Despite this situation, he saw this as an opportunity to think of a sideline work to help with his financial dilemma, which was selling adobong mani or roasted nut at Al Batha market.

At first, he kept his sideline work from his family until his sibling who's also working in Riyadh saw him selling roasted peanuts to feelow Filipinos. This is when his family back home realized that he is striving twice than necessary to provide for his family even more.

Selling almost 200 packs a day, he earns up to 300 Riyals a day on weekends and on weekends he would earn up to 700 Riyals. His sideline work provides a more stable income than his janitorial employment. He plans to open up a bank account upon returning to the Philippines.

Emmanuel sold 200 packs equivalent to 300.00 SR a day on weekdays and 500 or more packs amid weekends equivalent to 700.00 SR a day or more.

Presently, his sideline occupation is giving his family an agreeable life back home, path more than what his janitorial employment is putting forth him.

Right now, Emmanuel is putting something aside for a major astonishment for his wife when he returns home one year from now, a bank account.
